Hydraulic Flushing Unit for Remote Equipment Maintenance

// Hydraulic Flushing Unit for Remote Equipment Maintenance

Key Requirements

Trailer Specifications:

The flushing unit will be mounted on a braked, twin-axle trailer with a gross weight capacity of 2.6 tonnes. This ensures mobility and stability while transporting the unit to different sites.

Hydraulic Flushing System:

The unit must be equipped to deliver hydraulic flushing flow to effectively clean hydraulic equipment.

Removable Pump:

A secondary petrol-driven pump will be installed within the trailer. This pump will be removable and used specifically for removing oil from the waste oil tank integrated into the flushing unit.

Objective:

Develop a robust and portable hydraulic flushing unit mounted on a suitable trailer, incorporating a secondary pump for waste oil removal, to facilitate efficient hydraulic equipment cleaning at remote locations.

Design:

At Advanced Hydraulics, our design process for hydraulic power units begins with a thorough review of the key elements needed to ensure reliable performance. For this project, we first established the required working pressure and flow. Our team then completed the necessary calculations to meet these specifications. Following this, we created a detailed hydraulic schematic and a general arrangement (GA) drawing using Solidworks software. These designs were then shared with the customer for approval.

Manufacture:

We selected a robust 2.6-tonne, twin-axle, braked trailer with a galvanised steel chassis. We designed a 300-litre carbon steel reservoir with baffling and anti-slosh features to ensure stability and prevent oil movement during transport.

We integrated a diesel engine with a fixed displacement pump for consistent hydraulic power. The electrical control panel we designed features a 3-position rotary switch to set different pressure levels, along with push-button controls for cylinder operation. To safeguard against overfilling, we included a float level switch in the reservoir.

To ensure continuous operation, we included a lever-operated hand pump that provides a manual backup in case the diesel engine fails. For waste oil management, we designed a second baffled reservoir with a sight gauge and easy-clean features.
